This undiscovered treasure is a part of this community that once farm land that made up the eastern foot hills of Raccoon Mountain, that provides many great views of Lookout Mountain, Raccoon Mountain, and Elder Mountains. This area being just around the bend of the river and a short drive into heart of downtown Chattanooga. The Elder Cove subdivision backs right up to one of our long time residents property who has called this her home since 1949. She has told me that Mr. Zorn, the then current owner of the farm, grew many different crops on his property, but for the 22 years I have lived next to her I have only seen Hay Bailed and put up. This Farm like so many of them at that time was a much bigger working farm. Many of the current home around Elder Cove where once part of that farm property. My home too was once part of another much larger working farm property of that era, a 1840's era log home then owned by Doctor Mitchel. My home was then the central house of the much larger Lookout Lake Farm, Back then it had White painted fencing, cut pastures, and livestock.Doc Mitchel later built another larger home on the other side of his Lookout lake Farm.Doc Mitchel also subdivided his property, allowing more homes to be built, thus another part of this community developed and has been called home for many of the present family's.
